For the love of Cacao…
I love chocolate… who doesn’t?! It has so many health benefits; especially if you are going for good quality dark chocolate. I’m happy that I truly enjoy it. But recently I’ve discovered a perfect liquid alternative.
Hot cocoa is usually considered as a cozy wintertime drink, you add some marshmallows, whipped cream and it becomes a real indulgence in a cup. But in this post, I want to share the benefits of cacao which is a better version for you and your body. Both cocoa and cacao are made from cacao beans, but to make it cocoa the beans are processed with higher heat. This usually destroys most of the nutrients and therefore the final product has less nutritional value. Cocoa is more popular due to being sweeter and after adding some stabilizers and preservatives becomes a part of cheaper chocolates, desserts, and some popular cocoa mixes. But we are here to explore a better and healthier option, which tastes amazing too.
After analyzing all the powerful benefits of cacao I’ve started to drink it on daily basis and upgraded it by adding some powerful ingredients.
Cacao is full of antioxidants and flavonoids, and the best part it has zero caffeine which makes it good for dancers of any age. Some studies prove that it works as a mood enhancer because it contains four scientifically proven chemicals such as dopamine, serotonin, phenylethylamine, and anandamide. It also contains iron, zinc, and magnesium, which are also great for dancers. For me, Cacao is not just a tasty drink, but also a vessel to deliver powerful nutrients into my body.
Let me share with you some of my cacao options.
To upgrade my cacao I add some Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. I’m also excited to try their new Collagen Creamer soon. Collagen is very important for dancers. For a decade there was more attention to calcium and it’s benefits for kids and adults. You should consider collagen too, as it is a major building material for joints and ligaments. Collagen also has a natural anti-inflammatory function and supports your immune system. It’s a number one nutrient to help you recover from injury.
I'm also excited to share with you these fantastic mixes from Four Sigmatic.
I started my journey with some Mushroom Coffee Mix with Cordyceps, which boosts my energy right before morning ballet class. To be honest with you, it really improves my endurance during the day.
Speaking about cacao, they have some amazing options too. I love to have some Mushroom Hot Cacao Mix with Cordyceps in between rehearsals if I’m not in the mood for coffee but need to boost my energy level.
Cordyceps are well-known in Chinese and Tibetan medicine, they are great for athletes and dancers. They support your energy level and stamina.
After the performances or a long day when you are a bit exhausted and need to relax and unwind Mushroom Hot Cacao Mix with Reishi is a must.
Besides this, I always add some Cinnamon or Nutmeg to my hot cacao to make it taste better. When it comes to dairy or non-dairy additions, it usually depends on my mood. Sometimes I love to add some good heavy cream in it and sometimes I make a lighter version with coconut milk.
I hope you like my post. Let me know, what do you like to add in your cacao?
